Welcome back to another week of Fav Five!  If you've been here before, you might have seen my bedroom.  It's pink...like very pink.  I don't think I've had one person walk into my room without saying "wow...that's a lot of pink!"  I've had the same bedroom decor since I was in high school.  And I've loved it, until recently.

Pink is definitely still my favorite color, but I no longer feel the need to surround myself with as much of it as possible.  When I originally decorated my room, everything (and I mean everything) had to be either hot pink or white.  And it worked for me.  Every time I walked into my room, I would just get all happy.  But now I'm a grown up, a grown up who feels a little silly having a bedroom that looks like a pepto-bismol bottle exploded.

So I have finally decided to de-pink-ify my master bedroom.  I am so excited, but a little overwhelmed about where to start.  I have to pick out a whole new color palette, and really think about the vibe I want my room to give off.  So I'm taking this week's Fav Five as an opportunity to see what options for big girl rooms are out there, and hopefully find something I like!

I have loved this bedroom for a long time.  I can't even put my finger on what exactly draws me to this space.  It just all comes together so nicely for a calm, serene room with the perfect amount of glam mixed in. I especially love the patterned wall behind the bed.  And you will never guess how she made that...duck tape!  That's right, not paint, just duck tape taped to the wall.  And it looks amazing.

This room was designed to mimic the look and feel of a hotel room, and it hits it on the nose.  I love staying in hotel rooms, and having that same feeling of luxury and escape in my own room would just be dreamy.  I just want to run up and jump on that soft fluffy bed.  I have also been dying to get a bench to stick at the end of my bed.  That is definitely one thing high on my to-buy list.

This bedroom just oozes relaxation and serenity.  I am a strong believer that your bedroom should be a place you can go to unwind and just recollect yourself after a long day.  I can see doing exactly that in this bedroom.  The darker grey walls makes the rooms feel cozy, like a cocoon, while the light accessories add some freshness.  This would be an amazing room to just recharge and get ready to face the world.  I am also loving that gorgeous drum shade on the ceiling.  Unfortunately overhead lighting in an apartment bedroom is very hard to come by, so I have to live vicariously through others for now.

This is another light and airy bedroom.  I am just over the moon for the settee at the foot of the bed.  Wouldn't that be a great place to sit and get ready for the day.  I'm really liking the nice tall beds in all these rooms too.  I got my bed (found here) for my 16th birthday.  I love my bed, but I'm getting a little tired of it being so low to the ground, and really think I'd like a higher bed frame once we replace ours.

This room.  Just wow.  It might be a little too... much for me, but I still love everything about this room.  Especially that coral accent wall behind the bed.  I think it's safe to say coral is my new hot pink.  If I could I'd cover my entire apartment in the color.  But I won't, I've learned my lesson.  But I am definitely working to incorporate pops of this color into a few of my rooms.  And the luxe factor in this room is just off the charts. I would feel like such a princess every time I went to my bedroom, with those mirrored silver side tables, and beautiful crystal chandelier.

I definitely notice some common ideas between these five pictures.  I thought I was really struggling between a dark, cozy bedroom and a light and bright bedroom.  But looking at these pictures I think I like a happy medium best.  I'm thinking medium grey walls, with lots of larger white/light furniture and accessories, and then a few colorful accents here and there.  I also think I may have to bring in just a touch of silver and gold to get that glamorous effect.  What can I say, I want a princess room.

I am also definitely going to incorporate some sort of bench or seating at the foot of my bed.  I love how they sort of extend the comfiness of the bed out further into the room.  And I think it would just be very practical too, for things like getting ready in the morning.

The last common element, which all of the rooms I chose had, was identical bedside tables.  I am just a complete sucker for symmetry, and the function of these tables goes without saying.  As it is now, Melissa has a table on her side of the bed, but I have my vanity next to my side.  So I have been feeling the pain of no bedside table, and I'm ready for that to change.

So what do you guys think?  Loving all those rooms?  Let me know which one was your favorite in the comments!  What is your must-have for bedroom decor?  Till next time!

  1. Great picks! Don't forget on the bench, you could easily find a coffee table in the right size at a thrift store and cover the top to make a bench! I love that most (if not all) of the rooms have a large area rug. I wish rugs weren't so expensive, because I would love to have one in my bedroom too!

    1. That's a great idea for the bench! I've definitely seen tutorials around for that. And I'm definitely leaning towards the DIY painted rug option, just have to find a super cheap, large, plain one to start with :)
