Welcome to this week's Fav Five! If you missed the first post last week, you can find it here. This week we are discussing dining rooms. My dining room is probably the least used room in our apartment, and it is also the least decorated. However, with the addition of a desk area, both Melissa and I have been finding ourselves in there more frequently.
Since it is now seeing more action, I really want to crank things up and show my dining room some love. It has been pretty high on my rooms-to-do list, and it is now being bumped up to major priority. So I thought this series would be a perfect way to dig into dining decor and find some inspiration to nail down exactly how I want our finished space to look. Here is what I've come up with.

I am just eating up this bright and cheery dining area. It has a very happy, casual vibe that I can't get enough of. I really go back and forth about having a casual versus formal dining room, and this happy space really makes me lean towards the former. And I truly cannot get enough of those chairs. Both the trellis backing and the geometric fabric on the seats. I can just imagine starting my mornings at this table eating some toast and catching up on all my favorite blogs.

This dining room is a little simpler and calmer, but still just as bright and happy. I love the base of white with a few well placed pops of blue. And I actually have been playing with the idea of a dark topped table with a white base. What do you all think? I'm still on the fence about taking the plunge.

This dining room may be my favorite. It perfectly gives off the bright and welcoming feeling, while still mixing in some more formal and elegant touches. The bold red and white curtains definitely draw your attention right in, and give a little playfulness to the room. That amazing chandelier adds some grace and elegance. All the pieces in this room work perfectly together for a beautiful space to host anything from daily family meals to fancy dinner parties with friends.
These next two rooms definitely up the formality factor. At this stage in my life, I have no real need for a full blown formal dining room. However, I hope to eventually own one once I buy my big girl house. Never too early to start dreaming and planning!

This stunning grey and silver dining room just takes my breath away. It definitely has less (ok...no) pops of color than I usually go for, but something about this full blown neutral palette has me hooked. I love its simplicity, while at the same time rocking tons of glamorous details. That chandelier with draped crystal strings is gorgeous, and I am head over heel for the rounded out wall of windows with floor to ceiling drapes.

I guess when it comes to formal dining rooms, I'm a sucker for a colorless neutral palette. The contrast of black and white throughout this room makes it so sophisticated and just fancy :). And how can that huge grid wall of frames not make your heart skip a beat? But I think my favorite part of this room is the couch worked in there. I love the idea of eating an amazing meal, and keeping the conversation going by simply moving over to the couch for drinks or a coffee. Ok so I don't drink coffee...but my imaginary guests do!
So those are my five dream dining rooms. I definitely see some themes among them, and have a few ideas to incorporate what I loved into my own dining room. Which room was your favorite? Do you prefer to have a more neutral, formal dining room, or a bright and colorful casual dining area? I am honestly split on this!
Come back next Monday for the next post in this series, we'll be talking bedrooms!
