Project Life: 2014 Week 1

Hello everyone!  Since it is now almost the end of June (how did that happen?) I thought it was about time I shared my Project Life spread for week one of 2014.  I got way behind on creating and sharing my layouts, so I'm hoping to play some major catch-up in the next couple of weeks.  For now, let's take a trip back to the beginning of January.

Since I wanted to keep my weekends together, I went with a Monday to Sunday weekly approach.  This meant that my week one for 2014 was only 5 days long.

To create the title page, I cut my own card using scrapbook paper from a Studio Calico grab bag.  I cut the Week One title letters using my Silhouette, and stamped on the dates.

We started 204 here in Maryland with a ton of snow.  I used a screenshot of the weather app to include as my picture for this card.  I really love the look of the blue tag label peeking out from behind the picture.

Since I forgot to take any pictures of our New Years Day dinner at my parents' house, I just used a simple journal card to write down some details about the event.

I am still loving including videos in my layouts, and also decided to print out a cute little 'play button' with the QR code to help let people know it's a video.

The first week of January was also the first week of a new job for me.  Since we weren't allowed to take pictures inside the building to protect the children's privacy, I decided to include a business card to mark this event.

Dakota and Melissa also came up with a super cute game that they were loving.  I captured a picture and a video of them playing together to include in this week.

I also cut up a 3x4 journaling card to add into this 4x6 slot so I could have a place to journal, and add in a little color.  I used a lot of paper embellishments for this layout.  I like the extra layers and dimension it adds, but I also miss the added fun that other embellishments like enamel dots add to a layout.

I also experienced a monumental first during this week... I ate Chinese food out of the container!  I know... hardly bucket list material, but I had always wanted to try it since that seems to be the only truly acceptable way to eat Chinese.  Let me tell you, it was pretty exciting :)

I always loved keeping my fortunes from fortune cookies, and I'm so excited I finally have something to do with them now!  I especially loved the sentiments in these fortunes.

We also had delicious homemade paninis for lunch using Melissa's brand new grill press.  They were so tasty!  Which reminds me that we should totally make some more paninis this weekend!

Melissa and I also have a fun date night tradition of having movie nights in.  We pull out our air mattress in front of the TV and pile on every pillow we can find in the apartment.  We then turn off all the lights and enjoy a night romantic movie night with no lap top or cell phone distractions.  These nights are some of my favorite memories.

I also got around to setting up my washi tape storage/dispenser thing.  I love being able to see all the tapes I have, and its super easy to pull out a strip of the one I want to use.

And what weekend would be complete without a trip to Starbucks amidst a day of errands?  We were particularly feeling the struggles of adulthood and responsibility (grocery shopping every week anybody?) so we treated ourselves to some latte goodness!

And that finishes up my first week of 2014!  Who else is with me on being super behind with Project Life?  I'm currently working on week 5... yea I'm just breaking into February.  So thankful I have my Project Life planner to help me remember what was happening 5 months ago!  Where does the time go?
