For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may remember this picture from a little while back:
About a month ago, I was out with my mom for a girls' shopping day. We stopped in Anthropology, and I found these adorable knobs that were the exact colors I have been imagining for my living room. And if that weren't enough to seal the deal, they were only $8 each! I considered it to be fate, and brought them home with me :). And after almost a month of procrastination, I finally put them in their new home!
I installed them on the small cabinet below the TV. This little cabinet is about as old as me, and so it was over due some TLC. We have some additional plans for this little cabinet in the future (which will partly deal with that horrendous cord situation going on), but for now I'm happy with the little 'sparkle' the new knobs bring.
The old knobs weren't horrible, but they were just very plain. They also made it painfully obvious that one of the doors is slightly off kilter.
The new knobs are our first official move towards the color scheme I've picked out for the living room. I'm also hoping to involve different geometric patterns around the apartment, so I feel like these knobs were just made for me! I'm thinking of them as a jumping off point, or inspiration piece, for the rest of the living room.
They aren't much, but they do make me smile every time I see them.
And now for the final before and after!
Ok, so it's hardly a drastic transformation, but its a step in the right direction! I'm finding I am definitely more of a baby steps type person when it comes to decorating my home. Which is fine by me, I'll just have to embrace the slow evolution of my rooms, rather than an overnight transformation.
Any other slow and steady DIYers out there? Please tell me I'm not the only one that takes it one set of knobs at a time!
