Fav Five: Furniture Makeovers

Hello everyone!  Hope you all had a great weekend, I was enjoying my last weekend of summer before Fall classes start today.  Melissa and I attempted to go school supply shopping yesterday (one of my favorite things to do) but almost left the store as soon as we walked in.  The line to checkout was at least 20 people long!  Craziness.  I don't remember things being this insane at the start of school.  Serves me right waiting till the day before school starts :).  So I officially have a rain check scheduled so I can browse and enjoy my school supply shopping.

Today's Fav Five is going in a little different direction.  Instead of focusing on a specific room in the house, I thought it'd be fun to show off some amazing furniture transformations.  Furniture makeovers are probably my favorite part of the DIY world.  It just never ceases to amaze me what some people can turn an old junky table or chair into.  There are endless possibilities, and even the ugliest duck can turn into a beautiful swan with only a fresh coat of paint!

This desk just makes my heart skip a beat.  It has everything I love, white furniture, geometric patterns and some major DIY love!  You can't even tell that the beautiful finished desk was ever once a standard IKEA table.  I must admit, after seeing this picture, I've been eyeing all my furniture, trying to find a piece to update with a few simple scraps of wood.  No table is safe!

This project may be one of my all time favorite ideas.  Upholstering a regular old coffee or side table.  I've seen many versions of this idea around blogland, but this one really sticks with me.  The before is just so plain and boring, and the after is so elegant and pretty!  And I am definitely crushing hard on ottomans as coffee tables in general.  I would love a big comfy ottoman that I can put my feet up on after a long day.

This is another IKEA hack that is absolutely stunning.  It is almost unbelievable that those two are the same dresser.  I love the soft blue fabric paneling that makes up the front of those drawers.  And those drawer pulls are absolutely to die for!  So dainty and chic.  I am definitely keeping this makeover in mind for my dresser when we get around to de-pinkifying the bedroom.

This is another all time favorite DIY project of mine.  Adding that pop of fun to the back of an ordinary bookcase just makes it so special and personalized.  This project will definitely be making its way into my living room as soon as budget allows.  I'm hoping to bring a little cohesiveness to my mis-matched bookcases in there, and I think this is just the project to do that!

This makeover was love at first site.  You all know I adore my expedits, and this just took my love to a whole other level.  I am crushing hard on that simple classic detailing added to the unit.  It completely personalizes the expedit, instead of looking like another stock IKEA piece.  Can you all tell how much I'm loving IKEA hacks recently?  It just stuns me how people can make such original furnishings from such ordinary pieces.  Love.

That wraps up this week's Fav Five.  If you want to check out some more awesome furniture makeovers, come check out the Pinterest board Lauren from L'amour Chez Nous and I recently started.  It is chock full of awesome before and after furniture transformations.  Guaranteed to get those DIY wheels turning and inspiration flowing!!

Now tell me, what is your favorite way to makeover a piece of furniture?  Any furniture transformations you've completed recently?  I'd love to see them!  Who else is now officially addicted to Ikea hacks?  I can't be the only one :)
