Fav Five: Master Closets

Hello all!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, last of the summer for many!  For those you you wondering where I disappeared to last week, I was on a vacation with my extended family to the Outer Banks.  I had hoped to keep posting throughout the week, but staying in a house with 20 other people doesn't leave room for much downtime!

To get back into the flow of things, I'm here with another round of my Fav Five.  This may be my favorite room in a home of all time... the master closet.  I will be the first to admit I'm a complete closet snob.  The first necessity on my list when apartment hunting has always been (and will always be) a walk in closet.

Aside from the enormous amount of clothes I have hoarded accumulated over the years, there is something so elegant and feminine about walking into your own room of clothes.  I just can't get enough.  I dream of one day having a room sized walk-in with built-ins all around.  Here are some of the ideas I have bouncing around in my head for my future dream closet.

First up is a closet I have admired forever.  It belongs to lucky Megan from Honey We're Home.  Her closet is a stunning girly retreat from a house full of boys.  And while it does an amazing job of storing and organizing all of her clothes, it is also styled to feminine perfection.  From the shopping bags strategically placed on shelves, to the flowers and makeup station on her island, this closet would make any girl's heart swoon.  I will consider myself lucky if the closet in my future house is a fraction of this wonderful space.

This closet surely speaks to my OCD side.  The cleanliness and brightness is just my idea of perfection.  And that shoe closet within the closet is just to die for.  I love how each individual cubby of this closet is illuminated with it's own light.  That wouldn't even be to hard to add into an existing build-in master closet.

This closet takes the built-in closet cake, hands down.  Why?  Because it was completely built, from the floor up, by blogger Sandra from Sawdust Girl.  I'll give you a minute to let that sink in.  Amazing right?  This girl built herself an entire dream walk-in closet.  It has definitely inspired in me the desire to design and built my own dream closet, if my dream house doesn't come with one.

This closet...well, it speaks for itself.  Beautiful built-ins surrounding a huge island in the center, plus a chandelier... this room has it all.  I love the added cabinets on the top of the built-ins that utilize every inch of space in that room.  And I have officially decided that an island is on my list of must-haves for my dream closet.

Jen from iHeart Organizing has made her own fantasy girl space.  I love that this space isn't just limited to being a place to store clothes.  She planned the space to not only function as a closet, but to also serve as a luxurious dressing room.  She added in a vanity to do her makeup, a place to store her jewelry, and 2 adorable stools to lounge on.  I would love to get dressed to face the day in this room.  How could you ever have a bad day after starting it with this loveliness?

Are these some inspiring spaces or what?  And for those of you without a master closet, a lot of these closets were made in homes without one originally.  You can always transform a spare room into your dream closet, or built one into your over sized bedroom.  It just takes a little creativity!

What do you fantasize about having in your own dream closet?  Is it tons of built ins?  Or an island in the center?  Or a place to accessorize and get made-up?  I would have to choose D) all of the above!  Go big or go home I guess :)

  1. I especially love Jen's space. Beautiful, but still attainable too.
