Today's Fav Five 'theme' is chalkboard paint. Ever since it's explosion into popularity, there have been a million and one projects featuring chalkboard paint for one use or another. There are so many ideas out there, it can be intimidating to wade through all of them to find a truly inspirational project you want to tackle yourself. So I thought I'd share with you my five favorite projects using chalkboard paint, and hopefully these projects can help get your wheels a-turning for a DIY chalkboard of your own!

I absolutely love the idea of a chalkboard calendar. This is a great way to organize your family's schedules, and to keep everyone informed about upcoming plans. I also love that all you have to do is wipe off and re-write something, should plans change. And you can re-use this every month by simply re-writing the month and dates. I have seen many versions of this project, but I really love this one. With the flag banner, pretty fonts and fun colors, this is definitely a happy calendar!

This next chalkboard project just makes me grin from ear to ear, and actually anticipate the chilly winter season ahead. I love all the cute designs you can draw on the mug, what a relaxing activity to enjoy while waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee or tea, amiright? And aside from pretty patterns, you can also write names on the chalkboard, so you don't mix up whose mug is whose!

I'm a girl who loves her labels, and chalkboard labels are no exception. I love how easily you can switch what the label says, should you change the contents of the container. The genius of this project is that you just paint pre-made sticker labels (that you can get at any office supply store) with chalkboard paint and voila! Awesome chalkboard labels with fun and fancy borders!

This is another version of chalkboard labels. Have you ever been at a party, and they have cheese and crackers out, but you have no idea what cheese is what? I know I have. With the bottom of a serving tray painted in chalkboard paint, you can easily label whatever food is being served, so your guests are always 'in the know'. This isn't just limited to cheese and crackers either, I'm picturing a bunch of little quiches, and the chalk telling you what's in each type of quiche. The possibilities are endless! Plus it just looks fun :)

This last chalkboard project may be my favorite. It's a chalkboard sign made to look like those at Starbucks. I'm a huge dork for typography, and always love a good menu board at Starbucks. This DIY menu board shows a Christmas dinner meal plan, but I can just as easily see this beauty being used to schedule out regular weekly meal plans. That way if anyone ever asks "what's for dinner?" you can just point them to the board.
There are some awesome things you can do with chalk paint, huh? Chalkboards are not just for the classroom anymore. While my house is currently chalkboard free (aside from my never used chalkboard in my PB teen style tiles system), I am definitely plotting some chalk board painting to happen soon. I already have the paint waiting on my desk, just need to choose a 'victim' to chalk up!
What have you made over with chalkboard paint? Have you tried any of the projects above? Tell us about them in the comments. And who else is completely jealous of people who can make insanely awesome chalkboard letters and art? Raise your hands, I know you're out there!
