Project Life: September to December 2010

Happy almost Thanksgiving!  Hope everyone has some great plans to spend time with loved ones and celebrate this amazing holiday with so. much. food!  Thanksgiving definitely ranks up there for one of my favorite holidays. What's not to love about a day defined by stuffing your face with a delicious homemade smorgasbord?  Dakota and I will be traveling up to New Jersey this Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with my extended family. Then Melissa and I have big plans for leftovers on Friday (leftovers=best part).

Anyways, before we all go off on our own holiday directions, I wanted to share my latest completed Project Life layout with you guys.

It's painfully obvious how little I used to record my life, with only 8 pictures to show for the entire time of September through December of 2010. Oh well, live and learn!

Rather than spreading out a month per layout like I usually do, I thought it would make sense to combine a few of the more 'photo light' months into one layout.  The left page of my layout shows September through November.

Since this was such a long time ago and there were no major events, I decided to go pretty light on the journaling.

For the title card of this layout, I simply used a stencil to trace out the months, then free handed the year. For the letters, I followed the curve of the banner on the card, so it looks a little more 'realistic'.

I also included a picture of some tulips Melissa got me. Thankfully I have taken a picture of every bouquet Melissa has ever gotten me, so I'm really excited to have those to include in my layouts.

Since the picture itself wasn't that grat, I decided to crop out the unnecessary background stuff, and attach the picture to a pretty 3x4 filler card. I love the sweetness of those tiny polka dots accenting the pretty pink tulips.

I decided to focus most of my "journaling" on one 4x6 card. Since I don't remember too many specific details about these photos, I decided to do something fun with my journaling.

Each of those little love blurbs are something related to one of the pictures shown on this page. For example "I love you because you get me 'just because' flowers" is my "journaling" for the flower picture. I honestly decided to do this because I didn't know what else to put in that slot!

The right side of this layout shows December 2010. Thankfully I took enough pictures in December to mostly fill up a page.

This title card has kind of a dramatic story with a happy ending. I had just gotten these brand new gold script alphabet stickers, and knew they would be so perfect for my December title page.

So I pull them out and start sticking letters on. Once I finished D-E-C, I went back for the second E, and of course the set of stickers only came with one of each letter!  I may have slightly panicked, but decided to try and salvage it. I used some silver glittery stickers to use as substitute E's, and kind of love how it turned out!  Lesson learned: check it before you stick it #wordstoliveby.

Next I had a picture of Melissa attempting to get Dakota to be friends with a bearded dragon we were babysitting. Neither party was interested in getting to know the other. The picture kind of sucks, but I love the memory.

I had the picture printed to be 3x4, but didn't like it in the 3x4 slots with the way the rest of my layout was getting put together. So I got some gold washi and stuck my picture on a 4x6 card.

These next two cards may be my favorite. It was the munchkin's very first snow!  She was so cute, just a tiny fluff of black in all the white snow (there ended up being way more than the picture showed).

I kept it pretty simple, by making a mini title card for this 'event' and adding a pretty little snowflake embellishment.

Finally I couldn't resist adding another video into this layout. I'm still so in love with being able to do this, and definitely think videos are going to be making regular appearances in my Project Life layouts.

Last but not least, I have another beautiful flower picture. Since I didn't need a full 4x6 of journaling, I just stuck the picture over half the journaling lines, and used the rest to record my memories!

And that finishes up my Project life through the end of 2010!  I'm so excited about making such progress, and can't wait to be all caught up. I'm also just loving going back through all these memories as I put layouts together.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and eat lots of turkey!!
