Project Life: 2014 Week 3

Week three was a pretty picture light week for me.  We did a lot of fun stuff, but I still ended the week with only four true pictures from that week.  Note to self: remember to whip out the camera more!  Since I was so short on pictures this week, I only needed a single design A page, and I had to get a bit creative with my memory keeping.

I did a lot of layering on my title card this week.  I love the look of a bunch of different but coordinating papers stacked on top one another.  I started with a plain white 4x6 card and added different layers until I liked the look.  Then I embellished with some thickers, enamel dots and a label for my dates.

The next card is where I really had to get creative with this layout.  I had a memory I wanted to include in this week, but had no picture to go with the memory.  We had taken a trip to the leasing office of our new apartment (before signing a lease) but I forgot to take a picture while there.  I really wanted to make sure I documented the process of our apartment search, so I had to get creative to record this step.

I decided to include a floorplan of the apartment that we really had our eye on (and ended up renting).  At the time though, we were terrified we would never be able to move in because the rent price jumped about 65%!  Thank goodness for helpful leasing agents who told us to be patient and the prices would lower again.

Also that week, I made a fun video of my top 5 Instagram photos of 2013 using Statigram.  I really loved having this video, and hope I can make another each for each year in the future!

On the card to the right I included the exciting beginning use of my first Erin Condren planner!  I got the lesson planner to help me organize all the lessons I had to write for work.  I bought it before I started my job, but was only really able to start using it after I completed a training period.  This planner really is a dream, and I am so in love with all the fun happy colors!

Next up is a funny shot I got of Melissa's parents' dog, Millie.  Millie is a super fun and energetic terrier.  As I mentioned here, Melissa likes to put things (socks, labels, ear muffs) on dogs when they're playing, and Millie is no exception.  Millie was wandering around with her blanket draped over her like a cape for a good chunk of the evening.  To embellish this card, I used a banner label and hand lettered the title.

I kept the last 3x4 card fairly simple.  I used a small piece of decorative paper to back the picture, then added a tag to the top of the card for all my journaling.  I had been eyeing that mini decanter for months, and finally snatched it up when it went on clearance, so there was no way that wasn't making it into my album! #itsthelittlethings

The first 4x6 bottom slot is filled with the circle card I made for the previous week's layout.  I decided not to add another card to this spot so I could enjoy the card that took me so long to make twice as much.

The final card in this layout shows off a new shirt Melissa bought me during a trip to the mall.  She always finds small ways to spoil me, and I wanted to document that sweet act of love for the future.  I simply taped this picture on using strips of washi tape, then stamped  a heart onto a mint chipboard flag and called it done!

So there's my week 3; short, sweet and to the point!  I don't necessarily feel the need to fill an entire two page spread for a week if there really wasn't that much to document.  I'd rather save the space and have room to maybe expand other weeks that need more room (hint, hint week 4!).  I also loved the challenge of completing a layout with images other than pictures to tell a story.  How do you handle weeks with fewer pictures?  I'd love to hear your tips and go-to moves in the comments!
